課程概述 |
2004年一群人文與資訊科技學者張舉「數位人文」（digital humanities）大旗，揭示此領域正式成立。數位與人文的攜手合作，使這個領域呈現百花紛呈的局面，涵蓋歷史的研究與教學，乃至知識推廣等各層面。人文領域對此發展的回應不一，語言與文學最早起而呼應，史學繼之。
本課程從上世紀計量史學出發，回顧其方法上的特點與限制，以為前車之鑑。課程安排兼顧研究案例的分析討論與數位工具學習，一方面掌握數位歷史（digital history）的研究現況，從他人的研究實例中學習如何問合適的問題並設計研究步驟；另一方面學習數位工具的使用，精進研究技能，包括資料探勘工具、地理資訊系統（GIS）、社會網絡分析（SNA）。傳統史學訓練著重細緻的史料閱讀能力，數位人文訓練則培養同學處理大量資料的能力。史無定法，兩者不需相互排斥，而是在研究中有彈性地運用合宜的方法，解決問題。 |

課程要求 |
1. 每週確實完成當週指定閱讀，參與課堂討論。
2. 實作練習作業請於指定時間繳交，勿遲交。
3. 應用數位工具進行研究，完成期末報告。 |
